Mail Boss Installation Video: How to Install the MailBoss on a Wood or Metal Post

video installation of the mailbox is
easy its hardware required for the
installation is included with the male
boss
however you will need a phillips-head
screwdriver and either a 13 millimeter
socket and ratchet a 13 millimeter
wrench or crescent wrench and for
installations on wood you'll need a
portable drill the fast-track mounting
plate that comes with your male boss
allows you to install your male boss on
almost any post or platform if you're
using a wood post for wood plank then
use the wooden screws provided you can
see that there are several whole options
for you to use for your applications
ideally choose the four holes on the
mounting plate that are the furthest
away from each other and yet are still
on top of the wood platform mark their
location on the wood using the drill bit
provided drill for pilot holes
approximately one and a half inches deep
into the wood if you're installing onto
an existing metal post locate the holes
on the fast-track mounting plate that
align with the holes in your post and
use the post hardware to secure the
plate for our purposes we are showing
the installation on the male boss
mounting post
separate the mounting plate from the
mailbox by removing the two machine
screws located inside the locking door
of the male boss
yeah
using your 13 millimeter socket and
ratchet for wrench remove the 4 x 13
millimeter bolts from the mounting post
yeah
position the mounting plate so that the
four pre-drilled holes in the post line
up with the holes on the plate
be sure the ear of the mounting plate is
towards the front attach the mounting
plate to the post using the four machine
bolts that came with the post a drive
socket wrench crescent wrench or a drill
with a socket attachment may be used to
tighten and secure the bolts to the
fast-track mounting plate slide the male
boss onto the fast-track mounting plate
and secure the two machine screws

to secure the male boss to the
fast-track mounting plate open the door
with your key then insert the two
machine screws you removed previously
and secure them with a Phillips head
screwdriver
keep in mind that however you choose to
mount your male boss usps specifications
required that the height of an inbound
mail slot be 41 to 45 inches above the
