SpeedBit Video Accelerator Review

One of the most common problems with watching web video is buffering. The video starts, then stops to buffer, then starts, then stops to buffer again.

Up until now, the quickest fix was to get a faster Internet connection. Enter SpeedBit and their new product Video Accelerator. Its software that you simply download and installit configures itself automaticallyand works on both Windows and Mac.

What does it do? It greatly reduces video buffering problems while increasing download speeds. And the speed of your Internet connection doesnt matter.

Sound too good to be true? Thats what I thought too. So I tested SpeedBit Video Accelerator out. Watch this video to see what I found.

University and today we're going to take
a look at speed bit video accelerator
what is it
well its software that you download and
install on your computer that works on
windows or mac and what it basically
does is it helps to eliminate video
playback issue specifically buffering
issues where you start to play a video

while buffers and then play some more

now i am on youtube and i have the speed
bit video accelerator turned off and
what I want to do is watch it
HD video on youtube in this particular
video is from tornado videos that net
these guys are meteorologist and storm
watchers storm chasers so I'm going to
turn HD on what I'm going to do here is
I'm at a time how long it takes
this video to download i'm also going to
look at buffering issues because HD
videos on youtube of all sorts of
buffering issues i'm going to count how
many I get one should be coming up right
here you can see the video pauses while
buffers
so I'm going to let this video run and
I'm going to pause my actual recording
here and i'm going to count how many
buffers I get we're going to see how
long it actually takes to download this
with speed bit video accelerator turned
off
ok the video has finished downloading
and playing and it did so simultaneously
and here are the stats for this three
minutes and 48 seconds video it took
five minutes in three seconds to
download and it stopped to buffer 25
different times
now let's go ahead and turn speed but
video accelerator on and see if there's
any difference in performance for the
same video
ok so what I've done is I have clear my
browser's cache close the browser reopen
it turn speed but video accelerator on
now we're going to watch the same video
in high definition we're going to see if
there's any performance difference
so here we go with the videos playing so
far no buffering issues and what I'm
going to do is pause the video and I'm
going to keep score of 0
we got one buffer right there i'm going
to keep score of how long it took to
download and how many buffers we got
ok so I've pause this video because it
just finished downloading it took 1
minute and 31 seconds to download and
there was only one split second buffer
at the very beginning so looking at our
final score card a three minutes and 48
seconds high definition video on youtube
without speed bit video accelerator that
video took five minutes and three
seconds to download and had 25 buffers
the same video with speed bit video
accelerator turned on downloaded in one
minute and 31 seconds and only had one
very quick buffer
ok now we're going to take a look at
video accelerator inside itunes because
it works there to know right now i have
speed but video accelerator turned off
I've gone into the itunes store to a
video podcast and let's say i want to
download this podcast right here
that's eight minutes and 13 seconds so
I'm going to time how long it takes with
video accelerator turned off when i
click get episode you can see it
downloading here I'm going to pause the
video we'll see how long it takes
ok it has finished downloading here it
is right here and it took 44 seconds to
download now what I'm going to do is get
rid of this guy and we're going to
restart and try everything all over
again but i'm going to turn speed but
video accelerator on
ok everything's been cleared out and
reset and speed bit the video
accelerators turned down now we're going
to take the same eight minutes and 13
seconds video we're going to download it
and I'm going to time to see exactly how
long it takes
ok it's downloading i'll pause the video
until it completes k and the download is
complete you can see it right here and
that took 26 seconds so coming back to
our scorecard in itunes a video that was
eight minutes and 13 seconds long and by
the way was 50 megabytes in size took 44
seconds to download with speed bit video
accelerator turned off
the same video took 26 seconds to
download with speed bit video
accelerator turned on so the results are
pretty much black and white the product
works as advertised it gives you faster
video downloads and fewer video playback
problems but what are some of the cons
of the software well first of all speed
but video accelerator while it is
available for free if you want to use it
to watch HD video on the web
you're going to need to upgrade to the
premium version of the software which
will cost you around forty dollars a
year on top of that you cannot use speed
bit video accelerator to watch just any
video that you come across in the web
the software only works with videos
coming from around a hundred and fifty
different websites on the internet right
now
however they are continually adding new
sites so if you want to check out what
