in july two thousand three
I had an opportunity to climb to the top
of the clock tower and duluth central
high school and get a close look at the
century-old installation located at 2 15
North first avenue east in downtown
duluth the building now houses part of
the Duluth schools administration
offices
the new Central High was built on top of
the hill in 1971 the original central
was built in eighteen ninety two and is
a proud x Pittsburgher i'm happy to say
it was modeled after the Allegheny
County Courthouse in pittsburgh
pennsylvania and my visit in july two
thousand three
i joined a small group of people as we
slowly climb the old stairs to the top
of the bell tower where the clock
installed in the tower and 1893 still
sounds over the duluth area every 15
minutes
