As a member of the community, the Bay
Head Yacht Club thought that it was important
for us to stand shoulder and shoulder
with our neighbors and instead of lifting our
shovels with trash, we decided it was time
to lift our glasses and celebrate the
holiday spirit and sing some Christmas songs.

We had no idea what to anticipate. No
matter what door... door we knocked on,
everybody responded positively. So this
truly was a community-wide event.
Oh my goodness, it is a very tight community.
My name is Eileen Lopez and I'm the
manager, the DRC manager, um, for DRC
number 27. FEMA was invited by the local
community, yes, and by the yacht club, We
were invited to to share their sing-along.

Kind of raised everyone's spirits, all the
OEM people, all the support people, all
the DOT that have been here were invited
and everyone had a good time. They enjoyed
it. All my soldiers were invited as well.
All them participated, went out there,
had a good time, talked to the local people.
Everything was just... Great! Food, ah,
the music. Actually one of our soldiers'
birthday was there. Um, actually announced
and, you know, people were real proud
of us being here and actually
showing up for the Christmas party.
There was really an outpouring of support
from many people throughout the
community. All of the workers who are
here from around the country have been
extremely generous and compassionate,
while also lending a hand to help lift
some of the rubble off the sides of the streets.
So we've been very appreciative
of their presence here to both protect
our town and to also assist us in the
renovation.
