The Division SKILL TREE EXPLAINED Abilities, Modifications, Skill Menu


In the video we see – first time ever – the skills menu and how we can select and change skills. Since this is new gameplay, we can assume, that is pretty much confirmed to be in the final build. Before we look at the different skills, we also see the skill progression. Apparently each skill has a base unlock (Pulse for example), 3 modifications and 1 Master-Level. Since we see “available Ability Points” at the bottom right, we probably have to unlock each modification and once we have unlocked all 3 we get the “Master” bonus. Usually in RPGs you get "Ability-Points" for each level-up and then you can unlock the skills with these points. If that means, that the 3 modification-tiers, that we have seen in the behind-closed-door-demo of E3 2014, has been scrapped, is not clear at this point, but for balancing it is surely a lot easier to have only 3 modifications per skill than 20. The skills are also in a “Security” “Medical” and “Technology” – grid. If this grid has any connection with the different roles, has to be cleared up first.

Now lets list the skills, the official description and what they do:

Sticky Bomb
Fires a bomb that sticks to most surfaces and explodes when remotely detonated.
Explosive Damage Base: 3896
Explosion Radius 5m
Deployment Range 40m

Pulse
Sends out a recon pulse that marks hostiles and allies through walls and covers.
(it is interesting that pulse apparently also raises the chances to do critical damage to the marked target)
Range 60m
Duration 25s
Critical Chance 20%
Critical Damage 25%

Smart Cover
Reinforces a cover, increases damage and reduces incoming damage for all allies in the cover.
(this is a classic support or tank-skill)
Damage resistance 40%
Damage Buff 20%
Effect Range 8m
Lifetime 20s
Deploy range 30m

First Aid
Heals all allies within a small radius. The device can be used on location or launched to a distant target.
(the healing grenade we saw in the Dark Zone gameplay)
Self heal 50%
Ally Heal 50%
Range 3m
Deploy Range 40m

There are other skills like the only recently confirmed Riot Shield and the already known Auto Turret, Seeker Mine and also 5 new ones - but maybe they just got new icons.

be more assertive when it comes to
reviving and the next what we have is d
technology skills and this one gives you
the ability to be kind of the person
that seemed to be in charge of all the
other positions or also be able to
activate certain things as he went there
we see some type of riot shield we see a
type of turret we see a type of
injection maybe that's actually run
faster more stamina and you know we
don't have that she'll means he could
carry a riot shield or if you're even
placed on the shield down kinda like
holding spot so a lot of interesting
abilities and that's gonna be all
dependents on how you want to customize
your character you want to be the
security type of person which is more of
the person in charge of that going to be
the person in charge of the medical
ability
and if you want to be in charge of that
technology now remember this game is
meant to be played with four people so
you can assigned to securities to medics
to technology as everybody could be
medic or you know anybody be completed
on Suzuki depending on how you want to
approach the game another thing I want
to go ahead and point your attention to
is on the left hand side we see a little
lot in this lot has 10% 30% 50% and 70%
does this mean if you gonna be able to
unlock these at the epicenter was just
two percent I'll give you that before
that abilities only have yet to find out
exactly what that 10% 30% and 50 and 70
percent actually involved now the
question is how do I go ahead and
activate these abilities so that's where
I want to go ahead and point is if you
look at the bottom of the ability you
said was equipped 0 out of three so you
have three options to equip this he
could either equipped with the left
bumper you could equip it with the right
bumper and there's an ability you could
actually equipped with pressing left
bumper and right bumper as well so that
gives us a set of three different types
of abilities we could equip now I
believe the left bumper and the right
number might be an ability that will
probably use some type of super or some
type of make the ability has yet to be
determined but it is something
interesting to know that in the video
you only have two bilities but imagery
here we are able to see the disaster
three abilities maybe you could what
ability a second ability and the ability
is probably a super or maybe a
combination both who actually knows but
we have yet to find out next up I want
to go ahead and put your attention to
action the skill power as you see what
they're within the abilities you're able
to notice what skill power York early as
right now on this character particular
he is at seven hundred and fifteen in
skill power which can it gives us a
different perspective of the game and
how we can kinda see the direct the
difference between the skill-based
player as a level 13
want to go ahead and put you two should
be low that wears his base modification
and Messer as you see this is gonna be
the ability to lock and unlock as you
progress ABC or D notice to his base
ability which is the medic and he said
he has enough that's been behaving
better radar detection and out of that
base ability he's able to add different
types of cases as he went there we have

the modification to be on this would be
able to hear heartbeats and then the
other one which is the one with the diet

pinpoint where enemies are up in the map
that don't show up in the map and the
third one I have absolutely no clue
because it really give you a defined it
doesn't give you any additional I kind
of picked it up so from that base
ability pretty much for the detection
medical ability you're able to build it
up into my last fight and find it a
specific month I don't know if each
model will get a sign or if you just had
to pick one out of those three to assign
it to that possibility because we notice
on the bottom of the screen where it
says select skill and then a sign modest
right there you'll be able to assign a
model to that specific abilities so far
in this case scenario says we have the
medic ability we are able to pick which
model we want society what the heartbeat
one that's just speculation about a
hundred percent sure that's our be or
the one that has a detection of radar
with the enemy's active so that's kind
of cool and then after that I want you
to also noticed that not only are you
able to do that but there is an ability
on the right and says his master and
that Lester ability is locked as well
and has a background in a sense a
hundred percent so that means after you
unlock each modification do you go ahead
and get an ability at a hundred percent
so a lot of interesting information we
just get from just this one still image
you're also give a description about the
abilities and how they work so this is
sent out recon pulls the marks hostels
in the
alleys to walls and covers so that's
pretty much the description of the
ability or the reader ability but what
we want to know is right there was his
type base in bonuses so I had to see
what they're only the range is at zero
point six and then he had the duration
at 7.7 and the critical changes and 1.1
and critical damage at zero point to the
question is once you unlock the master
stack up with this become more valuable
to you for you to be able to do it and I
know what questions do I get these

get these with points I pretty much I'm
assuming it's gonna be similar to any
