How to: Lock Folder in Windows 8

This tutorial should work for windows 8 and windows 7. You should be able to lock folders in both operating systems.

technical helper here with a quick
tutorial for you guys on how to create a
locked folder in Windows 7 or Windows 8
either operating system that you have it
will work
you don't worry you're a okay ready to
go now the great thing about this is
that there's no third party apps to be
downloaded and installed this is all
built into the operating system
microsoft has built the sin they have
done the dirty work all you have to do
is set it up which is what i'm going to
show you how to do right now
so the first thing I'm going to do is go
to my computer or if you have a folder
links to my computer you can just click
that as I just did
I'm you're going to go down to the
computer and you'll find your drives
here of course
you at least have an operating system so
this is the only hard drive or SSD that
you have installed it will work fine
just do it right here in this case I'm
going to put it into my it's HDD hard
disk drive this is my hard drive i keep
my files and here my videos my school
work and just some crap i'm a classical
music draft that doesn't matter
so I chose this Drive you choose
whatever drive suits you best
and let's go ahead and get into it so
the second thing you're going to do once
you've chosen to drive is right click
new and folder once you've created your
folder name it anything you want to i'm
going to name it hidden
but you name it whatever you desire to
so once you've created a folder
double-click to get in
right click once again new go down to
text document and I once you've got that
just click anywhere on the screen and
then double click the text document this
will be opened in notepad and if that is
open Notepad you know you're doing the
tutorial right so farm so that's great
now the next thing you're going to do is
a little bit difficult but just follow
along with me
there's a link in the description which
will lead you to this code here you're
going to copy and you're going to paste
it in here
I know it looks big and scary but don't
worry it's really not all that you have
to worry about it works his password

pretty self-explanatory you need to put
your password there whatever you want to
be can be anything however long
whatever once again I'm going to do
hidden just because I can't think of
anything else right now that's gonna be
my password so I've got hidden
that's my password so once I've created
my password go up to file save as not
save you got to save as and on the first
thing to do is change it to all files
the save as type is going to be all
files you need to change it to that
and the file name you can have to do
this locker . dat so locker . bat you
need to have it
letter for letter like that so once
that's all completed you change it to
all files made the filename locker . bat
you want to save it and you can X out of
this crazy code you don't need it
anymore and on
if you get this icon here and wash his
windows batch file you mean you've done
it right so you can go ahead and just
delete the text document
don't even worry about it throw it away
it doesn't matter anymore I'm so when
you double-click on this for the first
time it will open your locked folder
without a password
um so this is my folder here but every
other time in the future it's going to
ask for password so i'll double click it
once again and it says here are you sure
you want to lock the folder so why is
yes and is no
so if I hit why it locks the folder so
the next time that i try to open its
going to ask for the password for the
sake of this video i'm going to type in
a wrong password just to show you guys
what happens
so if i hit enter on that wrong password
it's not going to open up my folder so
you can't get in
but obviously if you have the password
i'll type it in here hidden enter and
then the private folder will take a
second to load up and there you go you
got your lock folder so you can really
do whatever I got this picture of a
beach here i'll just drive that drop
that in there
it's pretty nice photo on say i don't
want my friends to get it because it's
too cool or something like that i don't
know whatever may be its password that
you want to put in here bank information
you just don't want other people to see
it
in this case it's just a picture of a
beach so that's in the folder there
say someone comes over we're going to do
work on the computer I can double-click
this
sure i want you want to lock folder wise
for yes enter
it's locked going away they can't get to
it and then later when he leaves say i
want to put it as my desktop background
hidden is the password enter and there
you go comes out you've got your picture
and that's pretty much it that's how you
do it that's that's all there is to it
that's how you make a lot for windows

to download extra programs or something
but this is very simple very easy and it
works it really does so that's pretty
