How to use website monitoring application, which is free open-source tool: http://sitemonitoring.sourceforge.net/

Use this application to easily check if your websites are up and running.

First of all you must have Java installed. Next download application, open command line and run:

java -jar sitemonitoring.jar

You don't have to use commandline, you can also doubleclick on the file, but then you would have to use Windows Task Manager to stop the application.

Your browser should open automatically. Login using:

username = admin, password = admin

You can change admin username and password in Configuration.

Next let's check if some webpage works. Open Checks and add single check. Fill in name, URL, leave checkox active checked and check that the page contains for example end html tag. Once you save this check, monitoring will start automatically with time interval defined here.

Data are stored to HyperSQL database in the directory monit, which will be created automatically in the same directory as sitemonitoring application.

Out of the box you will see last monitoring result. You can switch to chart or table view, where are displayed errors on your web page.

You can ad-hoc start monitoring. If the monitoring is running, you can abort it. You can edit check and remove it.

To stop the application, just close command line window.
