My name is Anju, product
manager Toad for Oracle.
Today, I'll demonstrate a new
feature in Toad for Oracle 12,
which enables different database
environments to be compared
in a much faster
and efficient way.
Now, before we go
over that picture,
I will briefly glance over the
existing compare schema, which
lets you select one schema
at the source level.
And you have the ability
to compare that one
schema and the source
with another schema
or multiple schemas
at the target.
Now, the new feature that
is available in Database
Compare-- multiple
schemas option.
If you click on it, it
will come in the screen
where you can connect to your
source database and a target
database.
They could be your production
and test environments.
In the Schemas tab,
if you click Load,
it will, by default,
load all the schemas
and source and target
that match in names.
If your configurations are such
that the names in the target
have certain suffixes,
or the other way around,
you have the ability to
manipulate the schema names
and load them
against each other.
So if I did not have
one-to-one schema name matching
in these two environments,
and one of the environments
had a suffix underscore
test, I can use this option.
So first, I select
the Manipulate option.
Then I select the Append Text
and put the Append Text string
here.
And then I click on Load.
And you see how it tried
to match the name that
contained the original
name and underscore test.
So if this environment was
prod and this was test,
I could use this
Append Text, and it
will bring in all these schemas
with underscore test here.
So I don't have to
manually come in here
and select on each
individual schema here
because the names don't match.
So you have the ability
to match names and provide
the logic for
matching names here.
So since, in this scenario,
we have the same names,
I'm going to click on Load again
so it matches up the names.
Options are pretty much the same
as the single compare schema.
In the output, you can create
the different summary files,
the detail files, and
the sync script files.
Here are the results for the
comparison that I just ran.
And as you can see,
it displays the number
of differences for each schema.
And in the Details tab, it
shows where the differences are.
And the Summary is pretty
much a report layout
of the differences.
And then, you have
the sync script.
You have the
ability, in this tab,
to select multiple schemas.
So I was holding
down the Control key
and clicking on Other Schemas.
And then rick-click.
And then you have the ability
to send your sync scripts
to [INAUDIBLE] for
the selected schemas.
Or you could do so
for all the schemas.
So here you see
how easy and quick
it was to review the changes in
different database environments
without having to repeat steps
for each individual schema.
