A visit to KoAloha Ukulele - Tenor Demo, Shop Tour & New Masterpiece
http://www.theukulelesite.com - Corey Fujimoto starts this with an instrumental based on a song by Tommy Emmanuel. We get a look at Paul and the boys at KoAloha. These ukes are amazing in tone and design! We, here at Hawaii Music Supply are Super impressed! Even their little soprano sounds huge! We get to sit down with Alvin Okami, founder and creative mastermind behind KoAloha. He gives us a look at the newest to his Masterpiece series. Paul Okami, production manager at KoAloha, designed this new model, the Gambalele.

on this one I'm really I'm as a father
and as a cola Baker my son by the way
does all of the custom politics he's the
master craftsman he he he studied he's
done all his homework and he makes the
Hoople lilies for all of our the artists
that are in our stable from ulta song to
Daniel home to brittany probability you
name it you know he got Paul United
States Paul I'm talking about
so Paul and I collaborated on this
masterpiece number four in Japanese
there's a singular word for don't give
up and the Japanese equivalent is gone
body now the Japanese people cannot
they have a hard time pronouncing the
elves
like who leili right they pronounce it
cuckoo baby very is a very is available
lately so the idea came to me why don't
I take that phrase of don't give up in
Japanese gamba kid and add another
syllable to it so the masterpiece number
four is the japanese word humbly and so
when the Japanese people hear it they
immediately get the the gist of the word
and they start laughing because in their
minds you don't they can't say gamma
lately but they can see somebody you
know and so it just worked out perfect
and so our number four is we have we
have actually three models of the Gumbel
80 series this first is a spruce top
with the Japanese flag with the stripes
rays of the Sun going outward now this
representation is not the standard
Japanese flag because the standard
Japanese leg has he singular read .
without any raise and that sends for the
nation of Japan whenever the Japanese
went to war
whenever it was a situation where their
nation was threatened and they needed to
suck it up they would make the raise
they would they would adorn on their
heads
read with the red Ray's coming out in
other words
they're ready to roar and ready to
rumble
so this concept of making the sound hole
the Japanese flag version that signified
their nation going to war was absolutely
perfect because the regular flag with
just the red dot is this was represented
the nation of Japan this flag
represented the nation of Japan at war
with the devastation in other words
they're not going to let the huge
earthquake and tsunami dampen their
spirits to such a point that they're not
going to be able to function ever again
no no so this flag worked out perfect
and acoustically it's absolutely perfect
again it's it's like a screaming banshee
it's just is just awesome and we have a
concert model of the same spruce top and
I believe Rover we have a coal model too
we have also a cola model of this
version flag and a call model of the
concert version with this flank
so in addition to these 1234 models with
a spruce two screws and two cool we have
the the masterpiece collection this is
the masterpiece version of the gamma
letting as you can see it differs from
the standard shape of the of regular
equality and the reasoning behind this
is this outline is meant to represent a
flag the Japanese flag that's fluttering
in the wind
this represents the fluttery and in
terms of ergonomics this is also thought
out that this little dip here a force
absolute comfort for your for your
forearm you know why you're playing and
on our stamp we use the Hawaiian flag
and the state's motto
who among k.o keine ich opponent and
Paul went and did the hola postmark here
quality 1995 hawaii and he's bored it
with a beautiful postcard orientation
and so this model the scepter from my
right field of vision is I'm life in bed
something I sense some kind of movement
at the ceiling and i'm still in a
superstore
I'm not gonna turn my even turn my head
to look at what that object or what that
big was however that disturbance started
to get my attention a little bit more
because it started to Bob like it was
something on an ocean like on on an
ocean on in the middle of the ocean just
Bobby and it Bob this way to the center
of the of where my mice my attention was
focused and when I looked at it I i was
just totally floored because it was the
pencil line drawing
of a body of an equally and when I saw
that I I just football and I said all my
gosh that's lesson any body shape so
quickly i grabbed from my nights and I
grabbed a scratch pad and I started to
sketch that that drawing the juke
star-spangled banger and it really can
the pineapple sunday the thought came to
me to make it a little more descriptive
in terms of outline and so the idea came
to make the outline of a pineapple with
its leaves the upper leaves at go la you
enter as a friend you leave as part of
our family
oh haha or should we say oh
