I'm Chris Duke and this is motors
welcome to motors today I'm gonna show
you how to upgrade the stock speakers on
a budget on a 2005 ford explorer sport
trac we picked up to 76 by a coaxial
speakers from pioneer the cool thing
about this project and coaxial speakers
in general is that you don't need any
additional electronics like amplifiers
across overs and you can do it yourself
very easily the tools that you're going
to need are some door panel removal
tools right here you can find a link on
our website and where to get those you
also going to need a couple of small
sockets small extension and a ratchet as
well as some wire strippers some wire
crimpers and some butt connectors and
the wiring included with the speakers
let's get started to swap out the
speakers in the front door is you're
going to need to get this whole door
panel off now to do that there's two
bolts on the bottom of the door there's
two bolts that are right above this door
handle right here and you're going to
need to pop off the switch panel with a
small panel removal tool and disconnect
those switches to get the door off their
seven of these plastic tree clips that
are behind the door so use a larger
panel removal tools because you're going
to need to pry those off of their kind
of difficult require a little bit of
leverage

yeah
once you've got all those tree clips
popped off just looked up on the door
with that handle out of the way to go
well you're going to need to use a 7 30
seconds socket for those door panel
bolts which going to need for the stock
speakers is a quarter inch socket how to
get rid of this wiring harness is tab on
the back of it just press down on that
slides right off
you're not gonna need this wire harness
for the new speakers it's just not going
to work
go ahead and cut that off and you're
going to need to strip the wire a little
bit that's where butt connectors going
to come into play
now take your butt connectors and Kurt
monitor the stock wiring
now the tricky part to hook up new
speakers to your eyes you need to figure
out the polarity what that means you
need to figure out which is your
negative wire in which is your positive
now all four doors on this explorer
sport trac have different colored wires
so our motors tip of the day here is to
figure out which of these is negative
which is positive use a little wiring
harness that comes with the vehicle
there's a little tab here on the bottom
that wire that's closest to that tab is
your negative so in this case it's the
green-and-white now we figured out this
one here is our negative and this is the
right front door speaker going to take
the provided wiring and then one with
the black stripes are negative so we're
going to crimp that right into their
like that
yeah
next connect the wires to the speaker
positive and negative and put back into
the door
with your new speaker installed but your
door panel back on
make sure you pound on the tree cook
back down in the door
similar to the front door the rear door
also has a switch panel two bolts about
the door handle right here and one bolt
down the bottoms start demolition on
this one next

there are negative one right there one
closest to the tab
yeah
yeah
yeah
ok
yeah
and finally the rear door panel was back
on now that was pretty easy
do-it-yourself project now this trucks
got an aftermarket head unit so if
you've got all of those two you might
want to go into your settings and tweak
your equalizer to make it sound even
better
