Monster Coral Trout with Pole Spear, Freediving Africa
Brad Thornbrough, Cameron Kirkconnell. Brian Head, Craig Clasen. On a mission for dogtooth tuna in Africa, we found a monster coral trout and decided to go after it with the Headhunter PREDATOR polespear. Deep water and strong current worked against us, but luckily the bottom was flat.

yeah
one of the first part of the polar bears
I ever built was put these in Africa
from the beginning of the design process
I knew I want to make the predator pole
spear one which can easily be used to
load line set up a previous trip we've
seen this curl route and we knew it was
the perfect fish to try and shoot the
whole sphere
yeah
the death of 75 feet a lot of current it
wasn't going to be the easiest fish but
the bottom is relatively flat stood a
good chance of landing is a nice cool
trap
as the fish started to swim away place
the shot its upper back and fought the
fish on the float line my holes from the
servants
over the years I've found the easiest
way to use a flat line with a pole spear
is to simply click the flatline whole
spirit band headhunter spearfishing
makes him and specifically for this use
we call it the big game band and we
reinforce it with 500 pound a crock
after carefully playing the flatline I
was lucky enough to get this fish in the
surface 46 . eight pounds
yeah
