hello there I love creating amazon
kindle book cover so much that I thought
I would make a quick video showing
others how to do it using their free
cover creator module so let's go on in
right now I'm in the Kindle direct
publishing dashboard
i'm at kdp . amazon.com for those of you
who have never been here and have never
published anything yet on amazon or
either you have and you want to change
your cover
you want to go to KD pd amazon.com and
you'll end up at a book shelf where you
can click add a new title and once you
click add a new title
this is where you'll end up we're on the
bookshelf
lets you know I have my book here it's
not yet started i'm going to scroll down
generally I always check enroll in KTP
when I'm creating a new book and look
forward to more videos like this that
will give you the actual details of
creating the book but for now we'll just
do a quick video on using their cover
creator model to do a quick new title
so in the book name field i will type
the best is yet to come
let's just say if that were the name of
my book
if I were publishing this I would have
to go and definitely fill in the
description field but for now I'm just
going to fill in my name
Kuala Neil Mooney and i will select
myself as the author and save so at this
point we have enough to start creating
our cover
we actually didn't even need that much
but i'll show you how it knows to pull
the book title and author name into the
book cover
so the best is yet to come and we've
added one contributor Paula Neil moving
there as the author
I'm going to
scroll down and click Launch cover
create a beta launch cover creator
beta if I had my own image already
created i would just browse for it here
and selected but we want to launch this
cover creator and save changes and
continue that way it's grabbing that
data that i already entered for the book
title so its opening the cover creator
and it will automatically pull in that
title and author name that I've already
selected it gives you a nice little
photo tutorial here called how to use
cover creator
it lets you know basically it's three
pretty much easy steps you can choose
your design style and edit it and then
preview it
so how I usually never check this got it
don't show me this again
I like to just go ahead and continue now
either I could choose from their
thousands of royalty free images which
is what i usually do
or i could choose in my own image from
the my computer I wanted to or use a
placeholder image
so let's take a look at all the images
they use they have all these categories
they have so many images art paper
let's just give you a peek at a few
before we start you're actually we're
already starting
I generally don't choose these but at
some point I might
let's choose editorial journalism give
you an idea of the types that they offer
so once you find what you like generally
you can scroll down if it has enough in
that category to scroll down
health and beauty is a great one let's
look at makeup so see this as a plethora
of photos so you can actually scroll
down and the thing I love is if you have
something specific specific in mind
you could actually enter a keyword
and search for it so money
tell you what let's use this one so i'm
clicking on that I don't even know what
that is it looks like some kind of a
bank vault or something I don't know but
they're huge emphasis and there they
look like great quality
so I'm going to say use this image for
example so it's loading designs and it's
going to give you a choice between image
based designs on the left and non image
based designs on the right
so you see here how this clashes
however we could change that color text
the thing i've seen people do a lot
lately is they've been choosing this
design and then they kind of leave it at
those colors but I suggest at least
changing the colors because it's that
such a popular option that there are so
many kindle books in the store already
with that choice
so at least if you're going to choose
this one let's mix it up a bit
I've never generally chosen these over
here because i tend to prefer the image
based designs but let's just take a look
at choosing one so i'm going to say
choose this design if you want to alter
things there are several ways you can do
it
but first of all let's click to style
the title and let's see if we wanted to
change the font to that and if you have
it on auto fit it automatically figure
out the size of the box it has to work
with
we can fold it and you have to kind of
click over here and then it in that
instance it changed it
you can click to style it again you can
also highlight your text and you can
bold it if you like or use this cute
little thing here
sometimes I have to click it again if
you want to change the coloring one way
to do it
make sure i have that is a let's see if
we were to make it that color
so you can change it that way as well
just keep playing around - you like it
you can click here and if you want to
change the
alignment you could do that you see how
that's changing slightly and other
options are more apparent
if you don't like the coloring there are
several ways you can do this click over
here and choose color and you can choose
a different color scheme to find one
that you like better
you notice how to change the text when i
did that most people have been leaving
it at this brown and pink one but i
think that should be changed so we won't
all look the same as kindle authors
so you can just play around until you
find something you like and if you
wanted to change the check the text
color in this instance let's click on
something different so all i did was
well we kind of went away their changed
my text color there or you can change
the accent color there so we can also
choose layout so let's click around my
alarm should go off in a second
oh I think it was already on that one
so let's click back here whatever is
blue as you can tell it's highlighted by
blue
that's where dunno there we go
I was like why is that not changing so
it flipped the image
there's my alarm time to get out of here
if flip the image to the top
in that instance you can choose that
flipped it there
that would be pretty ugly
so you can play around with the layout
you like until you find one you love
let's say we were to choose
I don't know that one another thing you
could do is change your text formats you
can click here
they're just keep going keep playing and
playing and playing around
I hardly ever use that one because it's
two inch cursive
and if you decided you can click here to
change your image so you can choose a
new cover image if you like and go back
to the image gallery or use a different
one
let's just find something else really
quickly I don't know body
okay good enough let's try that one and
then go ahead and use this image
so that's one way to alter it and if you
ever needed to add a subtitle you see
how this design allows for a subtitle
you just kind of float your cursor
around until you find it hover over it
it allows you to enter one
so let's click there and I'm gonna say
having babies is fun
any subtitle you want
so once you've played around with all
these different options you can move on
to the preview button and it will update
whatever selection you've chosen and
it's thinking and thinking and thank you
and that's when we owe its building the
cover we're going to move forward at
this point so we're at this point and
don't worry if you don't like what you
have here you can always click on back
to style and edit or even click back to
choose design you can start over so it's
not written in stone
I like to check the color mode which is
the normal mode i like to flip on over
to black and white to see how that would
look and I like to flip on over to the
thumbnail mode to see if it looks good
at that reduce size
so let's just say if I were in love with
that which I'm not really but just to
give you an idea of how to use this
thing
save and submit give you this little
warning that any changes you made to the
text title might not be reflected on
your kindle publishing page so i'm going
to say continue and that is just fine
with me
and once
it submits that cover design is when we
would move on to the point of uploading
our book so i'll show you more details
about my other put publishing steps but
in this one particular video i just
wanted to show you a quick update of how
to use the cover creator module
so that's it so it would upload it and
there it is and later if we were to come
back and we wanted to change it it's
like oh I hated you go back in here and
choose edit my cover creator design and
that's the cover that they would
automatically put in your amazon account
