but he had this great question about
embedding mp4 video into a powerpoint
particularly powerpoint 2010 which is
the latest version so let's take a look
at how we can do that
here's powerpoint 2010 when you pull up
a new slide will often have this little
icon here which is insert media clip if
you have the file saved on your hard
drive
it's really easy to just click that
navigate down to the file I've got an
mp4 here and click insert powerpoint
works for a second and then embed it
here and you can see you even got a
little play button and it fires it right
up and work in full screen mode and you
can preview it here there's another way
to if your video clip isn't on your hard
drive but its up on a video hosting site
instead like say screencast com you can
grab the embed code and actually use
that in your PowerPoint so here's a
video i have on screencast.com same kind
of process for youtube i'm going to grab
the embed code copy it and go back to my
powerpoint slide this time click insert
and then hereunder video there's a
little drop-down video from website
this gives me a box where I can just
paste all that gobbledygook in there
click insert and powerpoint kind of
knows what to do with it
so this one is going to preview as well
here in the preview mode but if i do go
into full you know the slideshow mode
down here it will give me a play button
I can test it make sure it works so that
the first method is probably best if you
aren't sure of your internet connection
right so if you're at a conference and
you're not sure if maybe the internets
going to be dodgy there is an unreliable
definitely you know save it as mp4 on
your hard drive and just insert the file
but if you're quite certain that you're
going to get internet access and you'd
rather just linked to it up on the web
then use the second method with the
embed code that helps
