Interviewer:
We are about to start the Bare Metal recovery process. Damien, tell me, what is going on with this computer here?

Damien Stevens:
OK. We got a run-of-the-mill DELL laptop. You could do this with any brand of laptop, PC or server, but basically what is happening is you boot it up, and this is DELL's version of 'No OS Found.' There is no operating system and nothing is on there. We have a blank hard drive like you just bought one from the store, hence the term Bare Metal. We have nothing; we have no system that is not workable. When you boot up, this is all you get.

Interviewer:
OK. Awesome. George is going to start working on this; putting everything together, making this happen. We have nothing now. By the time we are done with this process, which is about a 20-minute process, but through the magic of time, history, and all that stuff, we are going to make it go faster. George, go ahead and start doing your thing, man.

Damien Stevens:
What we are going to do is he is just going to put a boot disk, which we can supply you or you can use a Windows Boot Disk into the machine, and then ask it to boot from there. That is going to bring us up into what is called a Recovery Environment. What we have also done is also plugged in the external USB drive.

What we did prior to this was a Servosity Bare Metal backup, or an image of the system, so we already have a backup of the system. What we are going to do is show you what it takes and how long it takes, to take a system with nothing on it, that is completely crashed, and put it back in 100% working state.

Interviewer:
That is awesome. That process at 9:38 has begun.

Damien Stevens:
Right. At 9:38 we started. We will see how long it takes, when we are done.

Interviewer:
That is awesome. Good.

All right. Now Damien, we have gone through this whole process, from bare metal, right?

Damien Stevens:
That is it. You got it.

Interviewer:
From bare metal, and now it is asking us, 'Do you want to restart your computer now?' Tell me what happened, what is going on?

Damien Stevens:
OK. We just hit Restart. Basically what it has done is told you it has restored the entire system. Your hard drive crashed, you got a virus or whatever. You had nothing and there was no bootable system and. You clicked Restart and essentially it is done. You see this is starting Windows. It is a restored computer, and it is booting up just like it did yesterday, before it crashed.

Interviewer:
That was what I was going to ask. This image, what is going to happen now is exactly the same thing that I had before my computer crashed.

Damien Stevens:
Exactly. It is going to boot up into Windows and whether you had a password or not set for your computer or server, you would click on it, log in, probably type in your password if you have one, and hit Enter. This is your normal Windows login, if you have one. As you can see, boom. It is just nothing special, it is an ordinary Windows laptop and it booted up.

Interviewer:
That is incredible. Here is the deal, 22 minutes it took to go from nothing to having a full usable computer.

Damien Stevens: Yes.

Interviewer:
That is incredible.

Damien Stevens:
He just launched the browser, and that is his browser history, the last sites he went to. They are still there.

Interviewer: Incredible.

Damien Stevens:
If you would click on the Start menu, you would see that all your programs are there. He just clicked and went to the website 'Learn About Google Chrome', just as an example. The point is, we did not mess with network settings. All the network settings were already there, it got back on the network. All the programs were already there. The printer settings, you could bring up the last document you had and print something. Access the internet. If you pull up your email, every email you had up until that last backup would be there. Literally, this is full image, or mirror, of exactly what you had, and you are done. You are back in business.

Interviewer:
Good, The best way to get a hold of you guys is Servosity.com.

Damien Stevens: Servosity.com.

Interviewer:
Then you are on Twitter as . . .

Damien Stevens:
We're on Twitter; http://twitter.com/Servosity.

Interviewer:
