hello in this small tutorial i will show
you how to use a cronies true image home
version 2011 it's a new version it has
really nice features i have installed it
here and i also have installed the plus
package that either you can put by with
a bundle with the Cronus true image home
or you can buy it separately
what this does it enables you to backup
your data from one computer and say that
computer breaks down completely it's not
worth fixing
you can install it on a different type
of hardware and normally when you do a
backup you can only install on the same
computer because if you change hardware
then there be there may be conflicts but
with the plus package it gets around
that limitation and enables you to
restore to a new computer of course i
will tell you some details here while
we're going through this tutorial on
what to be careful of because there are
some things that you need to have in
mind while you're doing loss process so
let's start the program as i mentioned i
have installed both the crown is true
image home and the plus package and this
is a full version this is not the trial
so let's launch the application and
let's see the interface a bit
it's a very sleek interface the
interface looks like windows seven so
let's go to the main screen here and we
can see various our options
it has a non-stop backup what this does
is that it constantly monitors your hard
drive for changes say you install a
program or you create documents or
download music I don't know and then
something happened to your computer or a
virus have me you may get a virus with
this non-stop backup can go back in time
and it's better than system restore
that's a part of windows because this
really takes you back the whole system
every file everything takes you back and
five-minute increments of course it
would be best to have an external hard
drive or separate second hard drive and
back up their problem is if the whole
hard drive dies you lose everything
so having a second disc either internal
or external is a good idea
so let's go and see disk and partition
backup and i have connected the second
drive and I want to backup my first
drive the whole thing and back up to my
second drive so i will do a full backup
this means with the plus package that if
my first hard drive dies or it gets a
virus and can work windows can start all
I still have my back up on my USB drive
and I can do a restore on this computer
or if I don't want this computer anymore
i can get us another computer plug the
USB Drive in do the do the process that
will show you and restore everything you
will have your windows will have your
programs your files everything so let's
go ahead and click on back up now now
say you don't have a USB Drive before i
do this i want to show you something
say you don't have a USB Drive you want
to put the the backup on disks on cds or
dvds you can do this if you click on
disk backup options so let's take a look
here here you have a whole a bunch of
various options but the one that I
wanted to show you is the backup
splitting here it's really nice which
you can select the the size of the
backup that that you want to do for
example if you're going to use a DVD it
splits the back up into two point four
point seven gigabytes
so for example if you have I don't know
20 gigabytes of data of course a chronic
compresses the data and splits them and
then depart so you would need about
three dvds to back that up so let's go
back here and i'm going to just back up
this hard drive to my external hard
drive back up now
it already found it right and it will
put the backup in in a folder called my
backups
so let's start
i will pause the recording so we won't
have to wait
ok it just finished the backup and it
says the total size is 2.68 ok so the
use spaces five-point 22 so it
compressed it almost to a half of the
original disk space that it used so
actually this of course XP right and I
don't have much data because the test
machine but as you can see this
compression wilds backing up so you can
recover from the external hard drive but
what happens if your computer cannot
boot up at all
ok you have the external hard drive to
have the backup windows but you can't
start your computer to restore them the
the windows and all the programs so what
do you do then
well there's a tool here which I i
suggest that everybody who use the
cronies should go and do this it's a
boot disc creator so you go to a crony
according to image home tools and
utilities and you go to the one that
says bootable rescue media builder this
you have to have an empty CD or DVD and
you just follow the wizard next you just
select options here next
next and you can record to a DVD just
put empty DVD in there or a CD or if you
want to store it somewhere on your
computer you can create an easel image
and this creates a disc you need to
label this
ok here's a detail that I want to
explain here because it's really
important if you have the trial
installed and you create this portable
media disk it will not let you restore
because it's through the trial
okay you need to buy the full version
and then create the bootable media disk
if you want to have the plus pack which
enables you to to restore on any kind of
hardware you must have installed the
plus pack before you do the bull media
if you have a plus pack installed of
course and the chrony sir true image
home version installed then the bootable
media will be able to restore on any
hardware just have that in mind because
it's a little bit of a mix-up there so
we so say we have created the disc and i
will show you now how to restore a new
computer
