Hi, Map Makers!
Have you come across a place that isn't
on Google Maps yet? You can add these as establishments
using Google Map Maker!
Using the 'Add a Place' tool, you
can add places such as businesses, institutions,
schools, or landmarks on Map Maker.
Additionally, you can add relevant details
about that place to help others find it on
Google Maps.
Before adding a point, search for the place
to determine if it already exists on Map Maker.
If it doesn't, switch to Satellite view with
'Show Labels' checked... Zoom in to the appropriate
location and add the point as follows:
Hover your cursor over the red 'Add New' button and select 'Add a Place' from
the drop-down menu.
Zoom in and drop the marker at the entrance
of the place or atop the building by clicking
on the map.
Select the appropriate category from the category
drop-down menu or you can start typing in
the box to search for the matching category.
Then, add the official name, click 'Continue', and
add additional details such as an official
website or phone number.
Use the 'Building/Boundary' attribute
to associate the place with the building it
is in or create an outline which includes
the building and the grounds.
If the establishment is located in a building
already on the map, select the building polygon it is located within.
Click Save to finish.
Now, you're all ready to add places to
the map!
Thanks for using Google Map Maker!
