i I'm seamless and i want to i want to
discuss a question I get posed plenty of
times and comments and emails and
whatever my question is a very simple
one
what is the best dog dog or standing for
a digital audio workstation such as FL
studio or able to live or reason or
logic or what else about renoise Reaper
bigwig cubase sonar digital performer
protools cool edit pro bono like that is
a lot of dogs you can tell so the
question of what is the best one and i'm
not going to say is not reasonable one
however it's a bit of an odd one because
the answer isn't super duper obvious and
there are people who are SuperDuper is
ready to champion whenever they like
their dog and this area is the best are
you know it's bad when ever your other
reasons why and more often than not a
lot of us quite those answers are just
like hugely miss informed for because
either the reasons that someone thinks
of dollars the best is usually a
personal opinion I really only applies
to that because they like a workflow
that works best for that might not work
for everybody and then they might say
that they know they like this . because
some other dogs can't do something for
the dog can do and they oftentimes it is
wrong that like whatever the other
daughter is usually can do whatever it
is they want to think they wanted they
just know how to do it with a dog so
like those those answers general
generally tend to be like not super
wonderful which is why my answer is
really kind of a non-answer because the
answer of what is that what does the
best r is super up to you
super duper duper soups i personally
prefer FL studio and a lot of that has
to do with the fact that i've been using
FL Studio for 11 years so I was never
going to be as good at other dogs i have
a photo studio doesn't actually matter
even our dollars objectively better
because i was gonna be faster with FL
all time forever and that's for me for
telling people like if i were to compare
for example at fell versus Ableton Live
able two lives whole philosophy when I
can't talk because i'm honestly not
haven't used it all I've only watched it
being used a few times able to manage
philosophy is
everything is very like locked in place
is very president it's you can see where
things are as a very clear-cut like you
know a single chain and there's only so
many ways of doing things because those
are the ways that the developers felt
was the best way to do that one
particular thing throughout am I saying
just one way I'm sure there's plenty of
ways to do some things but in comparison
to FL Studio FL is like completely
modular and there are a thousand ways to
do any one thing and the whole pole the
whole point of that is that the idea of
FL is that they want to allow as many
different kinds of workflows as they
could possibly allows it to allow any
kind of user to be to be able to use the
software and I mean that's the best the
plus side of that the plus side is that
it's a it anyone can figure out a way to
make it all work best for them
the downside for that is that they have
to figure out a way to make it work for
them that might not be immediately
obvious that might not be obvious at all
and it could be kind of hard for new for
a new person to use it because they
don't know they don't know that you can
do that there's no it's not it's not
readily available information that you
can really mess with FL that much to
make you can basically make it work like
I'm like able to live if you really want
to
it just takes a bit of work and no noobs
gonna know how to do that so that's
there's that particular problem if you
get if you consider that a problem as as
someone like myself who's using and
using does like a valve for freaking
ever and i know enough about like I
don't know about the engineering aspect
of just making audio and using things I
can figure out how to use any of the dog
just because for the most part they all
do the same thing that is wrapped in
different different presentations like
in back in the day they did used to be
my back and I mean like eight or nine
years ago there used to be a very
distinct performance and capability
difference between the various Dawes FL
didn't have even the little of the
functionality to have now it could even
record things like indirectly input from
from an audio interface there wasn't
really a lot of audio interfaces either
but it wasn't a thing that I thought
could do so it wasn't a direct
competitor with just other basic
recording platforms that came later and
that kind of thing and so back then like
you really did just get FL if you're
making very sort of only
electronic-based like beets which is why
i forgot a reputation for being really
good hip-hop kind of production because
it was almost engineering for that piece
its specific purpose guys time grew it
integrated more functionality and more
broad different performance and you can
now basically can do whatever you want
with it and that's kind of true for most
other dogs as well other does with a
very with very few exceptions most dogs
can do everything that every other
talking do and the difference between
dollars are SuperDuper basically
superficial mostly cosmetic or workflow
oriented which i guess is not a
superficial work for is very important
so that the the kind of our kind of use
that you are able to determine what kind
of that you can use the best and of
course there's demos for all these dogs
we can try yourself and figure it out
for yourself which is still kind of hard
to do with someone who's an experience
because you just don't know about like
the higher-level things that you can do
with the dog might be the best for your
particular kind of a workflow and
another exceptions for things like
reason reason is a dog that decided like
when it was new and still now it
differentiates itself by adhering to the
workflow presented by actual physical
hardware and it like it limits itself to
that pretty hard and not only that but
it doesn't allow third-party plugins
that don't develop a specific version of
this plugin to work in its very visual
very specific architecture and that's
not necessarily really a bad thing about
it because that if especially when it
was brand-new most people who were
getting into music production at all
only had experience with hardware is
because the digital offerings weren't so
hot so i made a lot of sense to do that
for digital offering and now it's really
just kind of a choice and a lot of newer
producers don't have the kind of
experience with up with the hardware
that anyone else would so that's how
that plays out will be an interesting
thing as time moves forward and yeah so
like and then it is that there's other
minor differences like for example FL
Studio famously does not have the same
kind of audio or be capabilities that
able to live does and
vice versa able to live doesn't have
some of the native plugins that are as
good as FL studios plugins although you
can have that you something else about
God's is that a lot of dogs have their
own plugins as vsts that you could use
you could actually use image lines vsts
inside of my life if you're a Windows
user and pretty in the future will make
them in there in there in the process of
developing Mac native mac versions as
well so you'll be able to use the mac
version as well now that's that's a
saving grace for a lot of people because
they like it was workflow but they just
like the FL plug into so much better and
there's water in for that I think for me
personally more things I like about flr
things like that just the way that the
way of the arrangement window works is
different from every other dog every
other dog works the way we're like you
have a track and that track is the thing
like that's the element like that's the
instrument you're using and you then you
put data in the track like midi or
automation and then that's how you mess
with the instrument NFL for the original
window the tracks don't mean anything
there is there as an optional
organizational ability and you can just
put whatever wherever and I wait for
that everything else and that's bad
might just be because I grew up
quote-unquote with FL although the
original iteration of FL playlist which
will refer to it as used a process
referred to as the the pattern block
system which more or less was kind of a
pseudo track based idea in terms of
one-lane was really one thing and only
that one thing and you act like i said
before you can make current NFL work
like that you can make a track be the
one thing only that one thing if you
really want to I just feel so that's not
really its power that gets its easiest
like most efficient workflow but that's
also just my opinion it's not me saying
that it's the best it's just saying this
is what he can do and first so many
people were watching this so much
some people are going to think it's
awesome some people are gonna think it's
stupid and what really bothers me about
the people who think it's stupid and
also have three people think it's
awesome is that a lot of times they can
fight their opinions with being fact and
they presented as a saying like you just
use able to just better because you can
do some dudes whatever FL and not only
consider they usually wrong usually can
do whatever saying that well you just
gotta figure out how he doesn't
necessarily saying it's like you know
wonderful because some of that is kind
of like it needs to be like a main an
obvious thing and I was often times
not super obvious but whatever that is
that you want to NFL but the fact that
matter miss you can do it and but then
they also say that just completing the
rapidity of fact and it's not i don't
even I don't care if you hate FL I don't
care if you never want to use FL in that
you did able to forever or reason or
logic or any of that like it's your
opinion it's not Universal fact is not
going to be the same for everyone else
and I was feeling to waste time trying
to say this and try to make this a
lesson on when opinions are because my
biggest demographic is 13 to 17 year
olds and I mean be having remember being
a teenager I remember what opinions felt
like back then and so that means every
time there's just there's always going
to be think this is how humans are but
yeah other weird stuff like until
recently you couldn't have curved
automation in Ableton and I think that
logic doesn't have a slip edit tool and
other there's a lot of curious curious
functionality missing from particulars
like reason you can have the SDS and it
just seems stupid
it just seems really dumb it's in with
me I'm like the other stupid mistakes
that's there they did on purpose that
wasn't them forgetting to do something
that wasn't him does not does not think
it was important they just don't do that
because that's their architecture what
they want to do but like FL is audio
warping capabilities like again you can
do it is just not as easy as it isn't
able to and it's also not as fuck
universal but it's like they know about
it and they're working on it so i just
did it with it and then the table tennis
skirt automation to have it now but they
went through eight versions of it before
they could do that and there's a lot of
stuff that FL only recently added NFL 12
like the evil is to select more than one
mixer inserts do stuff with them and be
at the ability to link more than one at
once and i kind of think like the baby
kind of the Jews ability other of the
mixer is way better now but it was also
stuff that really should have been a
thing for kind of a long time to the
point where some people were making mods
FL Studio that they were to add that
kind of functionality in there and every
dog is guilty of this i'm sure i haven't
actually looked a bit wingtip where I
know what about what it does how it
works but i am sure that there are
plenty of with things that are people
just considered our basic function that
have and after his way more about it
with that that people think that it's
missing that I don't know about and tell
you that Belcher is plenty more about
Stivers used to how FL way of doing
things I don't even know what's weird in
that it's really really using their
dollars i guess that this is the thing
and everyone has that problem and i
don't think any dog has that problem
more than any other dog to the point it
like a lot of people actually use more
than one . i especially breaking up
because of FL and I felt plugins if
they're on the mac version they usually
run like a windows parallels or they use
the the crossover rapper version about
Val to use FL for a sound designer then
they use it they use Ableton for
arrangement and I kind of thing and I
don't want people who did the same thing
with reason they use FL for that that
this is my rewires a big thing because
rewires whole point is that you're able
to use more than one dollar with FL I
don't have any of that works because
I've ever had to I never cared because i
was twenty-two help but i know the thing
and so I can also for a while I used
Reaper for just recording things for
just the ability to record into my
computer and then I think the files and
you mess with them and inside FL that's
all I ever used before and so like
you're not necessarily limited to one .
but i do really think it's a good idea
to have one dollars being kind of like
your bass has been like this is the
thing that i'm using and you do have to
be careful because there was a kind of
scary . for logic users where they found
that they were never going to get
another update ever again because they
thought that Apple was discontinuing the
product and they did have an update and
broke everything or something like logic
users are having a bad time and I can
kind of that's unfortunate
sorry so yeah that's kind of a very
long-winded way of saying that like no
dog is really the best start in terms of
like actual objective matee in terms of
your personal beliefs and like your
workflow and styles that you want to
mess with their definitely will be
adults best for you but in order to
determine what that is you got a little
bit of research experimentation and
don't don't trust like they don't trust
and I don't trust me don't take my word
for it looking at I gotta find us about
yourself don't trust fanboys either and
don't trust marketing materials it's
something that you really need to do
hands on your own
figure stuff out and then do it because
that I really are you know but like i
said in the one of the best plugins
video that I did you figure out what
your idols use a lot of people
especially like it just happens people
like you know cohen sound uses reason
BTW uses logic analyzer he loses a lot
of buddies a big fan of logic you find
my pretty sure use logic what else
Skrillex used ableton uses I think
DeadMau i think still uses able to like
I use FL at whatever it is whatever your
the people that you like you look up to
like whatever it is that they use you
can just use that because you know you
at least know that whatever you don't
know about how that works you know that
I can do whatever it is that they did
and that's a good place to start but you
also have to keep in mind that just even
just because they did they use it to do
they did does not mean that what they
used was the best way to do what they
did it just means that that's what they
used its full-on possible that given
like if they knew everything about
themselves what they wanted to do
everything about every every dog about
everything they could do that they would
have you actually have made different
choices because they knew more than what
they did when they decided to use what
they did to get to do what they wanted
and the Duchess because they were used
to it and that's possible as that's what
you got you got you a top of that
forever for all the face to do because I
personally don't know it was the best is
for are now big might just be the best
second coming but I again i've been
using FL for so long that at this point
I really don't think it matters but
that's for my own personal with Prince
me anyway i hope this was informative
please remember to Like comment

you have questions about this let me

When it comes to the search for a free and reliable Digital Audio Workstations (DAW) to record music, the Internet has a number of terrible choices to offer. Free applications often come in one of three forms: gutted versions of premium software, fully functional trials of premium software, or standalone programs developed with the financial lure of proliferating malware and useless toolbars. Fortunately, a number of pretty awesome and reliable applications exist as well. The freemium software ...
