we're going to take a look at the HDMI
capture box YK 918 age you can get it
off China ebay for less than 50 US
dollars including free international
shipping there are different sellers but
the price is roughly the same this
product sells under different names such
as clone box Chevy I HD box but they are
all the same as the y que 918 age
different views of the capture box
it took about three weeks to ship it to
Europe
luckily it got through the customs
without any added import duty but that's
something to keep in mind when ordering
from China it comes with a very basic
instruction power supply with 5 volts
two amps output
the capture box hdmi cable 1 meter all
roughly three feet in length
let's take a closer look at the capture

this is how it works
xbox a blu-ray player or any other video
source with an hdmi output can be
connected to the capture box with a
standard hdmi cable the signal pass
through the box to the TV anything that
pass through the box can be recorded to
either a USB flash drive or and USB hard
drive you can choose between 720p or
1080p by pressing the button on top of
the capture box for a few seconds
let's connect the capture box to a
set-top box
the procedure is the same for Xbox
Playstation or any other hdmi source
this is the hdmi cable going to the TV
the hdmi out is connected to the TV
the cable which came with the capture
box is connected to the set-top box and
hdmi in
the power is connected
finally the USB flash drive and switch
it on the LED will flash blue and green
for a few seconds during startup press
the button for a few seconds to change
between 720 and 1080 p blue light means
1080p and green lights means 720p you
start or stop recording by pressing the
button the LED will flash during the
recording when the recording is stop the
LED will flash blue and green while the
file is being saved to the flash drive
for hdcp sources like blu-ray and
PlayStation you need to press the button
for five seconds before recording it's
possible to use the capture box without
any TV or screen here the capture boxes
being connected to a laptop
unfortunately i don't have access to an
USB hard drive but was able to record
two different USB flash drives and USB
card reader with a micro SD card maximum
storage capacity is two terabyte and
maximum file size is 2 gigabyte after
reaching two gigabyte a new file will be
generated automatically for continuous
recording
the hdmi cable is connected in the
capture box is switched on
let's take a look in windows control
panel display make sure that the
displays are duplicated this footage is
actually recorded with the capture box
the capture box has a 3.5 millimeters
microphone input for voice recording the
audio picked up by the mic will be mixed
with audio from the hdmi input source
the only way to adjust the mixing
volumes is to adjust the volume of the
hdmi source
