ok I'm how do you add an animated chart
to a PowerPoint presentation i'll go
ahead and show you how to do that i'm
using PowerPoint 2010 for this example
first thing I want to do is add in this
slide and i'm going to use the title and
content slide layout in the content
section at the bottom of the slide i'm
going to choose insert chart from the
different types of charts i'm going to
choose a clusters column and choose ok
ok a excel spreadsheet comes up on which
feeds into the powerpoint chart and what
you do is you insert whatever gotta .
you want in the Excel spreadsheet and
those actually like I said get fit into
the chart so I have some data ready that
I pulled from I think this is the one I
want to use from the Consumer
Expenditure survey and what it does it
looks at annual average expenditures vs
and your average and housing
expenditures between the years to the
other six in 2010
ok by default on 3 series are available
in four categories so in this case will
only be using two series of annual
average expenditures and your average
house expenditures so we'll go ahead and
not use the third and that's just
basically dragging the chart
that arranged over to exclude series 3
and then actually want to extend this
Dan because we're going to have five
categories as opposed to for those are
two these years here so we're going to
go ahead and not being pasted data
that's got over here and Excel
spreadsheet
ok now we're going to get a first dead
serious
copy
and then the last series is annual
average housing expenditures we're gonna
copy paste and yeah
ok as you see it retains the formatting
as well which is good also serious one
but just reading this annual average
expenditures
and then I'm gonna really serious to you
average Allison
expenditures
so at this point we can take a look at
the chart all that all the dad has been
fit into the powerpoint chart we're
going to shrink down this word window
here so we can take a look at it looks
like okay there is there's one thing i
want to do is just add a title to the
slide and to our chart so i'm going to
use style that have ready to shrink down
just paste it to slide
and I'm just gonna shrink
Stan so it fits nicely
ok
so we're done with our our Excel
spreadsheet live it live and all the
data that we need for our powerpoint
chart so we're going to actually close
the south and we could always up that
can be revisited reopened if you want to
add your data right now we're done with
it
so what I want to do is they had a
little bit more formatting to this chart
before I animated and what I want to do
is remove the legend here to the right
and include a data table at the bottom
which includes its own legend so i'll
show you how to do that we're going to
do is go to chart tools and go to layout
and what we're going to do first is
remove the legend that is here so we're
going to go to legend and we're going to
be done and that will actually get rid
of the legend now we want to go ahead
and add a table to the bottom of this
chart so what I want to do is go to
Daddy table and i wanted to show data
table for budget keys i'm going to click
that and that gives us our data table
and are alleged it just looks to me just
how much better
ok now we're ready to do some animation
I think would be fun to see all right so
we want i want to make it so each of
these data points comes in simply first
series 1 and then series two ok and i'll
show you how to achieve that effect i'm
going to have a bounce in so there's
many options here and we're going to
choose bounce
ok by default the animation is set up to
apply animation to the whole object the
entire object but what we're going to do
is configure it to for each of the data
points to come in separately
how do that is with effect options here
okay rather than have it the animation
applied to the entire object we're going
to have the animation applied to each
element in the series of each element in
the series will have animation
ok so that's all done
one thing i want to do is set it so that
each of the data points follows of the
other one so another in other words i
don't want them to come in and I have to
click to each to get each data point to
come in i want each data point come in
after the other one is done in a market
actually going to show you the animation
pane and play that to show you exactly
what it looks like
ok
that's what it looks like and actually
when I think all to my did not really
going to show you how to do side
transitions and whatnot in this
particular powerpoint demonstration is
just strictly to show you how to animate
have created a chart and animated chart
Stan but you didn't have it worked i can
go ahead one more time and show you from
the slideshow exactly what it's going to
look like
so when you go to this slide this is
what will be show
so it's def just a static five this just
a little bit of animation it just adds a
little bit of extra touch to the
presentation
that otherwise
that I just escaped to get back to the
PowerPoint presentation so i hope you
enjoyed this short demonstration and if
you would like to to contact me
damn additional questions or whatnot
please fill this simply email at info at
lot is duck
thanks for watching
