Export / Backup Contacts from Mozilla Thunderbird Address Book to Gmail Google Contacts

In this video we will backup our contacts from the Thunderbird Addressbook, correct the columns of the CSV that it exports using Google Sheets and then restore them into Gmail / Google Contacts.

Export From Address Book As a CSV File
- In the Mozilla Address Book
- Click Tools
- Then Export
- Change the “Save as type” to Comma Separated
- Give it a File Name and save it where you can find later

Convert a CSV File to a Google Sheet
- Go to Google Drive at drive.google.com
- Upload the .CSV file you saved from the Address book export to Google Drive
- Right Click on the File in your My Drive and Click Open With, then Select Google Sheets

Your CSV File will open in Google Sheets so we can correct a few export errors and you will need to match the correct column names with the data in those rows. The Mozilla Address book for some reason exported my contacts phone numbers in a column row called “Web Page 2”, This is not correct so I will change Header from Web Page 2 to Home Phone.
Now once you have made these changes to the Columns in Google Sheets we will export the file back out as a CSV to import in correctly into Google Contacts.

Convert the Google Sheet back as a CSV File
- Select File
- Download As
- Select Comma-separated values (.csv Current Sheet)
- Save it on your computer where you can locate the file

Importing the Corrected CSV Fields as Google Contact Format.
- At google.com/contacts you will click more,
Then Select Import
- Locate the Download from the Google Sheet .csv file and click open Then click import

doubles up the file name then click
import that's it your contact should be
correctly imported from Mozilla address
book and all the fields should be place
where you need them to be
