MY MINI-REVIEWS (these are my own thoughts on these products, taken directly from my notes and are arranged in the order in which I personally voted):
1) Terra Firma: What I liked most about this foundation was how well it covered pores and diffused fine lines. This gave me the most airbrushed look out of any of the foundations. Upon using this myself several times over the last few months, I've also found that this is a very long-wearing foundation on me. It holds very well for up to 8 hours.
2) Youngblood: The coverage on this, and the fact that it does on so creamy are the two things I really liked about this foundation. If you want a full-coverage mineral foundation, I'd recommend checking this out. See my updated annotations in the video regarding silicone content.
3) Purely Cosmetics: Most people felt this was similar to the bareMinerals foundation. I felt it was similar but my notes clearly favor this one over bareMinerals. The texture on this foundation is SO silky and soft, the weight on the skin is so "barely there." I can see this being optimal for people with sensitive skin or people who want a "luxury" mineral foundation -- This one was ALL about the texture for me. It feels MUCH more expensive than it actually is (I keep wanting to say that it felt like angel food cake! LOL! But it wasn't sticky! Haha!)
4) bareMinerals: A good, medium-coverage foundation. It was not my favorite, but it wasn't my least favorite either. I would not purchase it again but only because the coverage, the texture and over-all look of the product (while not bad) just wasn't great enough to warrant the price per ounce that they ask for it. I'd spend my money on of the other three first.
5) Maybelline: This was patchy on me. That's the reason I didn't like it. It felt a little grainy going on and didn't cover evenly. It does get good reviews by lots of other makeup artists and consumers though -- If you want to try a mineral foundation to see what the hubbub is all about, this is probably a good place to start (but don't give up on mineral foundations if you find that you don't like this one).
6) Physicians Formula: I loathed almost everything about this product. The coverage was poor, but what bothered me the most was the talc smell and the fact that it blew around SO much when you were trying to apply it, that you ended up inhaling a lot of the foundation. We all coughed while applying this one... Your makeup shouldn't make you cough or sneeze or scratch at your face when you put it on.
NOTES: Each foundation was kept in a container that didn't allow us to know which foundation we were using at any given time. A key was created by someone not taking the test that, when opened, showed us which brands were which. For of time reasons and for the simple fact that wear time is greatly affected by the individual using the foundation (dry skin vs. oily skin, etc.) wear time was not on the list of questions we answered. Everyone used the same brush when applying the makeup. Either multiples were used (I used several MAC 109's for example) or the brushes were cleaned and dried in-between applications. No primers were used. People had the option to use a moisturizer before applying the foundation, but if you used it once, you used it EVERY TIME! We tried to make this as fair of a test as we could... at least for people who had never done this before! :) Overall it was a fun experiment -- I'd urge anyone to try this kind of review if you were having a get-together with friends. The big reveal is always the most exciting part because that's when you get to find out which products you either liked or didn't like. I will say that I was disappointed that the drug store brands didn't perform better. It's always a thrill when you find out that an inexpensive brand of makeup is just as good as an expensive one. In this case, the general consensus seemed to be, "You kind of get what you pay for."

hey guys hey guys hey guys welcome to my
mineral foundation mineral foundation a
soft video face-off video face-off video
talking about my talking to the side of
my mouth when I do these enter sometimes
I like say hello
several times to try and figure out
which one's going to be that's on and i
feel like i should be and don't need to
see that I don't need to see that I
don't need to see that I don't need to
see that I don't need to see that
hope that this is actually going to be
kind of fun and interesting this is a
comparison contrast sort of review of
several different mineral foundation me
and a panel of friends got together and
with six different brands of a mineral
foundation we started applying stuff to
our faces and then wrote reviews up the
rules
this is how we did it all of the
foundations are put in little plastic
containers just like this and you can
see this one to see this one says ed
well obviously goes in order they were
all lettered and organized but no one
not even myself new which foundation was
a or C or D or b or whatever it was a
blind test the questions that we decided
we were gonna answer when we tried on a
foundation where what's the coverage
like how does it feel on the skin
how does it look on the skin and then
any other notes and any other thoughts
now the products that were chosen
I decided to go with to sort of
department store salon more high-end
kind of brands haiti's that expression
but i did two brands like that and those
were bare minerals and young blood then
there were two drugstore brands and I
chose Maybelline and physicians formula
then there were two indy company brands
and for those they chose terrafirma and
purely cosmetic that's important to tell
you that i didn't pay for all of these
products of the companies did donate
products for me to use for this purpose
but again and none of us knew which one
of these was what I'm gonna tell you
right now which ones were the most
popular when we did the big reveal and
the most popular one was a company that
did happen to send me a lot of stuff i'm
gonna be doing a review on them that
they sent me a lot of stuff so if you
want to think that that influence the
decision
it didn't in fact it wasn't even my
first choice it was just the popular
first choice which was young blood
the second most popular choice was terra
firma cosmetics that third was purely
cosmetics the fourth was bare minerals
the fifth was Maybelline and
in six than very last place was
physicians formula now I'm gonna give
you a price break down for all these in
a second but right now let's just go
through and talk about all of the gods
have been horrible things that we found
out about these foundations starting
with bare minerals and this is the
bareMinerals matte foundation the
coverage was decent it was a medium
coverage foundation we felt one person
with redness noted that it got rid of
the redness and they were really happy
with that it felt on lightweight not
really like much of anything
the one person who didn't ever wear
makeup said that it was smooth to the
touch but they could tell that they had
it on
I personally could feel that it was
there but it wasn't an overwhelming like
the tightness or weird feeling to the
skin as far as the look didn't
overemphasize pores smooth out the skin
one person said that it emphasized dry
patches on their skin
I'm sure that could be solved with a
good you know moisturizer or something
to correct the dryness
it was good it was decent there wasn't
really anything bad about it at all it
was just a nice mineral foundation next
on the list was physicians formula and
this specific foundation this was the
mineral where calc free mineral loose
powder that's what it's called now
that's the really interesting thing
about some of these products this
product says talc free on it and every
single one of us wrote in the notes and
this is the one we liked the least that
it flew around the room when you try to
put it on that it acted like talcum
powder it smelled like talcum powder and
it felt like talcum powder on the skin
interesting that it's the one that says
that it has no talking i'm not saying it
does but I thought it was funny that it
says telexfree and everyone without
knowing which foundation it was that had
a baby powder scent and it flew around
the room just like talcum powder i
thought that was kind of kind of funny
notes on the coverage skin was visible
under the foundation was very light
coverage not very buildable i wrote that
it was non-existent coverage even out
skin tone a little bit but didn't cover
any redness or anything like
that everybody said that it felt powdery
on the skin really sort of dry
how does it look made the skin look
flaky and dry blotchy and not even and
very dry and Matt third on the list see
this one right here was by terra firma
and terra firma is one of the indie
brands if you go to their website this
is the hydro silk mineral foundation the
one that we used notes on the coverage
medium coverage sort of light to medium
coverage one person said medium to full
coverage so it's seem to vary a little
bit there
buildable covered redness didn't
collected in poor smoothed out lines and
stuff like that paddle very lightweight
feel to it still felt like makeup but
not overpowering even I put that I said
it feels like I makeup on but more like
a regular foundation and mineral
foundation it didn't have that powdery
feel how does it look
one person said that it was really
powdery but then they buffed it in and
it looks really good i personally
thought that it diffused lines and hit
pores really well one of my sort of
things that I always watch for and
makeup is his pores i usually wear like
a sort of pore refining kind of thing
under foundation i put in my notes in
the final notes that it felt like it had
silicone it on this for me knowing which
foundations i was using but not knowing
which ones where we're here but knowing
which ones we were testing
I thought that this was young blood
because i know that young bloods
foundations and and all of their stuff
there they're really big into using
silicone in their products and i was
really surprised when I found out that
it was terraformers because terra firma
is really against using silicone in
their products
incidentally the terror firmer
foundation was my top leg that shouldn't
influence you at all because you should
make up your own mind but I'm just
sharing d was by Youngblood the notes on
the coverage were that it was not
powdery at all
it went on almost creamy it had very
very very like medium to full coverage
how did it feel it felt like a lotion or
cream a little bit heavy one person
wrote kind of heavy medium weight not
powdery it all that like a foundation
how does it look smooth even kind of
glossy one person felt that it had the
most natural look out of all the
foundations and had a good balance of
Matt versus a shine so it that would be
like a satin finish I will say that for
mineral foundation the one by Youngblood
acted the most different when you put it
on the skin it does go on like a cream
it's a powder but it really feels like I
mean you know it's a powder but it feels
more creamy when you put it on it's a
really interesting product and I'm sure
that that's because it's silicone and
Senate i'm assuming it is anyway
all right down to the last two we have
maybelline which was in fifth place not
many people really liked it as far as
the coverage goes sheer light/medium not
build a bowl
how does it feel light dusty dry light
dry smooth but powdery how does it look
one person wrote that it looked really
good but it made their skin feel dry and
one person felt that from a distance it
looked the most natural out of the bunch
but when you got up close looked blotchy
the last one that we did was purely
cosmetics and they sent a variety of
sample cups that we're all kind of in
the same color family and how is the
coverage medium coverage good coverage
medium coverage one person just were
noted in there that it covered pores
really well um how does it feel light a
light soft feel another person wrote
soft how does it look smooth even out
skin tone confused and another smooth a
couple of us noted actually that it felt
a lot like a the first foundation that
we tried which was the one by their
minerals everyone seemed to feel that
that was
a decent medium coverage powder
foundation it felt and performed as you
would expect a mineral foundation to
sort of feel and perform
now that's a lot of the way I'm gonna
tell you what the least and most
expensive was and what the best deal is
for your buck
I think now the price for each of these
containers as they come
the Youngblood natural mineral
foundation is $42 4.35 ounces or 10
grams the terra firma foundation is 1499
4.70 ounces or 20 grams the purely
cosmetics foundation was $18 4.21 ounces
or six grams the bareMinerals matte
foundation was twenty-eight dollars for
21 ounces or six grams the same size
it's just ten dollars more for the
bareMinerals one the maybelline mineral
foundation was nine dollars in 49 cents
4.28 ounces or eight grams and the
physicians formula mineral foundation
was 1095 4.49 ounces of 14 grams now it
should be noted that the two drugstore
brands on the prices are going to
fluctuate on those not have replaced is
going to carry them for the same price
and often you can find buy one get one
half are sort of specials or coupons in
whatever paper that you get for
drugstore products now obviously you can
see by that lists the least expensive is
the Mabley wanted under ten dollar and
young blood is the big jump from twenty
dollars for bare minerals to $42 for the
Youngblood one it is however not the
most expensive foundation by weight
this is the kind of fun stuff i like
doing stuff like this figuring out how
much something costs $MONEY per ounce
so then you can kind of decide which is
the best route to go so per ounce i'm
going to start with the most expensive
one is bare minerals at a hundred and
thirty-three dollars per outs even
though it's cheaper than the Youngblood
cosmetics foundation the Youngblood one
is slightly cheaper per ounce a hundred
and twenty dollars because you get more
product in the container than you do
with their minerals so the next one down
is Youngblood with hundred twenty
dollars per ounce
the fourth one was purely cosmetics $86
per ounce
and the third one was maybelline at
thirty-four dollars per ounce and this
started to surprise me as I was figuring
this out
physicians formula was $22 per ounce
still not the cheapest one the terra
firma foundation is $21 brown so was the
cheapest 1i was pleased with that
because it was also my favorite and it
should be noted that if you do like the
terra firma foundation they also sell a
jumbo-sized that is only ten dollars
more so instead of 1499 it's 2499 and
instead of . 70 ounces or 20 grams you
actually get 1.76 ounces or 50 grams so
for ten dollars more you get over and
out more product which takes the price
per ounce from $21 down to $14 so it's
by far the least expensive foundation
that we tried out let's talk about some
final thoughts again
terra firma cheapest / out that you can
get the foundation itself is not that
expensive at fifteen dollars
it was my personal favorite the
physicians formula i would stay away
from the Maybelline was cheaper than
that when we liked it better not a lot
better but a little bit better the
mainly one also comes with a brush by
the way and some of you probably use
this it's kind of like a something that
you describe your sink with I would not
put it to my face but if you want to put
on your makeup and exfoliate at the same
time maybe that the one for you on
regarding the purely cosmetic foundation
vs bareminerals because we felt that
they are really similar products i would
say that if you have used their minerals
and you like bareminerals they're not
exactly the same so don't not get one a
try just because you tried one but if
you do like the bare minerals foundation
i would recommend going with the purely
cosmetics one at least checking it out
because you're talking about the same
way the same volume of product for ten
dollars less purely cosmetic then at
Bare Minerals so I would urge you to
check it out and then
lastly the Youngblood Foundation which
was except for me and i liked it i did
not like it um it just wasn't my my top
pick on everybody else's favorite
everybody loved this foundation and i
will say again if you want a mineral
foundation and you have used mineral
foundations and you don't like how they
feel but you still kind of want to use
one or try one out check it out because
it does not work like a mineral
foundation i've ever used before
it's very the coverage on it is insane
especially if you want full coverage
foundation you want a mineral foundation
i would absolutely check this out
so that's the mineral foundation faceoff
i hope you found that kind of
interesting it was really fun to do
it's basically the makeup equivalent of
a wine tasting and that's what i was
going for I was really surprised that my
favorite one was the terra firma one I
didn't think anything bad about the
company i just was surprised i'm a big
fan of silicon and I knew that the
Youngblood one had silicone in it so
i'll admit that in the back of my mind
I'm kind of looking for that foundation
going I wonder which one it is
I can't get rid of that thought I can
try my hardest but don't think of
elephants what's the first thing you
think of its gonna be elephants so I
tried really hard to like banish this
thought of
oh I know this one has silicone and I
like products of silicones i'm gonna
watch for this one and I was tricked
I thought that the terra firma one was
the one with silicone and it's
absolutely not you have any questions
about any of these that i haven't
addressed please go ahead and leave it
in the comments and ask me i'll do my
best to answer them
I may not know the answer to all of the
questions that you asked if I don't I'll
let you know because i don't have I mean
I have the things in here but i don't
actually have the containers anymore for
a lot of these foundations that the
Maybelline one the physicians formula
right Chuck those while ago but yeah any
anything that you you might want to ask
core or any other recommendations for
future reviews like this please let me
know I'm shutting up now i will see you
soon take care thank you very much for
watching
