like I welcome to the Australian
transect tutorial this is hopefully give
you a good start for your assessment
task if you've got any sort of I guess
still teething problems working out what
you gotta do
I'm taking a few pictures here on google
earth of made the transect I've
constructed and you'd be able to use the
same thing but you'll be able to see is
if you open up google with the first
thing you do is add a path and if you
click to add the path that will create a
line and Milan will end up looking
something like that there you can see
here it's added click on a point to stop
in the Northern Territory and then click
on a point down here in wi Danny
margaret river and creates that straight
line
you look at the task it's going to be
2,500 kilometers long that if it's the
it's the the breath for that the next
thing you could do is add 15 different
points along your transit and you need
to make them fairly even as well to do
that you add these place markers and
then you can add them along as you do
you can see here once I've clicked on to
add placemark i put in 15 along here and
the really important thing that you want
to do here is 482 these place markers
you go along and put your cursor on it
and it'll tell you hear the latitude and
longitude and the elevation of each
which is something you're gonna need for
your transect the other thing you can do
is what click on your path and show the
elevation profile this will actually
show you a very detailed cross-section
of your transit which you've got to do
in Part I the assessment now it's going
to be far more complicated than the
version that you're going to create but
it will work place just it'll help you
show help to show you if you're on the
watch so you can see here here's my
transit or my path by 15 points and down
here this is it the really accurate
version cross-section version of my
transect the actual one that I'll do on
the assessment task is not going to be
as correct and it is accurate is because
this one's taking hundreds of points
along the line where is my one is only
taking the 15
god I can't I want to follow the steps
before and created in transit and put on
something . you should end up with
something like these the next step
you've got to do is with your day .
these young mark you'll notice my handle
here is on the point 1 markup and each
one of those don't be the latitude and
longitude and the elevation which is
really important for when you transcribe
it onto your transect so that's point
one and if you have a look homeroom
school and went to you can see us up
there
2 312 the latching onto changes chinese
and get in there and so all the way up
the dark corner is going to change and
you're gonna need that for this step
show you what we've got to do now you're
take H . started our starting point out
guide endpoint 15 and put in the
elevation the distance from the start
which you can use the ruler to for the
latitude and longitude once you fill
that out you'll end up with a table
that's what this one in the example but
the exact the one we've got an example
doesn't have quite as much information
he's done in pencil here is
fundamentally once you're done properly
you're doing pin but you can see here
4.1 through the 15 2012 18 in this one
we can see the elevation here and meters
and then the distance from the start
what we may have to do with this
information has come over to the
transept itself there's just been a
small cut and then we'll move on to the
next slide will continue the previous
welcome back it's going
yeah thank you he's what
once you've got that data from your
title you bring it back onto here on to
the transit agency going to sit vertical
SkyDome and along the bottom he got . 1
point2 points3 points4 points5 the whole
way out that your final . these will
have to be in the Sinai distance from
point I and then use the sky you to find
that distance there will put a skype
video on in the next day or so to help
you with that at all can just discuss a
little class take everything you have to
work at it with your vertically Skyler
you need to make sure that the parts
that you use correspond with the heart
of your cross section it's not . and
having a vertical scar that goes up to a
thousand if the highest point on your
transected a hundred meters
likewise there's no point in going up in
10 meter increments if you're wise . is
2000 meters so you'll need to choose a
vertical scale that fits and is in line
with the measurements that you're going
to use the next things that you're going
to have to look at as well and a
climatic graphs for two locations and
there's a video on my channel nail and
had a creative climatic graph and then
you also have to look at doing this to
land form automatic land-use vegetation
cross section or transfer get of the
region that you're looking at
I can have for this has been informative
when you've been able to use and it's
making me feel more confident about this
sex with task will put on another video
in the next few days or so to discuss
what you've got to do these parts in
part c alright thanks a lot
alright so in summary the first part the
part i of the assessment just some of
the things that you have to remember
that you've got to do you've got to
include the scale do the vertical
exaggeration both of days for Mayo make
a short little video in the next aisle
so to help you out with that you need to
put the line your line and transpose it
onto the map on the on the transect
sheet and all the data on that table so
the latitude/longitude elevation and
then draw that cross-section of your
transect using an appropriate scale
vertically and horizontally as well good
luck with that boys hope you enjoy this
and enjoy doing the assessment task
