Data Matching Tool

Computers are involved in nearly every aspect of our modern society. From cars, to weaponry, to bank accounts and school records, the ubiquity of computers have made them a necessity for many individuals, and businesses of all sizes.

However, many companies and individuals are not utilizing their computational hardware and software to its full advantage. If you have a computer that you use to store records, transactional data and other vital information, there is no reason to spend hours poring over those records at the end of each fiscal period; you can use a data matching tool to simplify and expedite your record-keeping process, and free up your employees for other, more complex tasks.

Almost every business has to reconcile data at the end of each month and year, and though it is an important task, it is also an extremely time-consuming and tedious process. Matching data by hand can also lead to costly errors which sometimes occur as a result of a fatigued brain or tired eyes. Automating the data reconciliation process with a data matching tool allows employees and managers to focus on more important tasks, while essentially error-proofing the process.

One recently-developed data matching tool, EasyMatch, differs slightly from other, similar programs in that it allows the user to retain some control over the matching task, while offering the speed and security of computer-directed processing. EasyMatch utilizes deterministic matching technology to find matches between two sets of data based upon rules that have been specified by the user. This means that the program can perform a wide variety of tasks, and generate a variety of results, depending upon the parameters which are established by the user at the beginning of the process.

EasyMatch also offers three different types of mapping, so that it is suitable for a wide variety of applications. The first type, equal mapping, tells the program to find pairs of data that have equal values. The second type, within mapping, produces matches between sets of data that fall within a tolerable variance of one another. The third type, contra mapping, produces matches between pieces of information which, when combined, produce a value that is within a tolerable variance of zero. For the latter two mapping types, the tolerable variance for the process is established by the user.

While computers are now used in nearly every aspect of our daily lives, there are some businesses, both large and small, that are still performing data reconciliation tasks manually. This process not only takes far longer, but it also costs the business more money, because it takes employees away from other tasks which cannot be automated, increases labor while decreasing productivity, and creates the potential for costly errors. Using a data matching tool helps to rectify all three situations. The most useful data matching tools tend to be those which make use of the process of deterministic matching, such as EasyMatch, because they are applicable for a wider variety of tasks.
