Windows Operating System Corruption and Data Loss

In windows operating system, when you install or uninstall a new program or make any other changes to the system files, the structures and registry of the operating system is changed in this process. In these situations, if any goes wrong, it can corrupt your operating system.

"Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM"

This error message occurs due to the possible corruption in Windows registry when you attempt to restore your system. The registry may corrupt due to following reasons:

- You computer has a BIOS that doesn't support 48-bit LBA
- You have installed your operating system on a partition that is larger than 128 GB

In these situations, you can't access the data from your computer hard drive and you need to reinstall the operating system in order to make them accessible.

But reinstalling the operating system is never safe as it requires to format the primary partition of the drive. When you format the drive, it deletes all the data stored on it. The situations become more worst in case in you have stored your important data on primary partition or you haven't partitioned the drive or you are using dynamic partition on your drive.
